The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is a faith-based volunteer organization that offers direct aid to those in need across nine counties in North Texas. The Society provides short-term financial, material and emotional support. People are empowered to reach the goal of self-sufficiency through advocacy, education and referrals.
Every day, in 39 Conferences throughout 9 counties in North Texas, 800+ volunteers provide personal assistance along with care, compassion and hope. The way we see it, we’re simply offering our neighbors a helping hand.
We have seen predatory loans destroy the lives of individuals and their families. In an effort to combat high interest lending and provide relief to their victims we replace high interest loans with a low interest, credit building loan that is paid in equal installments over 12 months.
Combined with a savings account and financial management education this program provides hope and a path to self-sufficiency. MLP, which launched in January 2015 has helped hundreds of people escape the payday/title loan trap.
